Dr. Katherine Chiou is a recipient of the National Alumni Association’s 2021 Outstanding Commitment to Teaching Award (OCTA). Awarded annually since 1976, this is one of the highest recognitions for teaching excellence at the University of Alabama.
Dr. Chiou carries forward and exemplifies to an exceptional degree the Anthropology Department’s history of commitment to excellence in teaching & close mentorship at both the undergraduate & graduate levels. She is the fifth Anthropology OCTA awardee since 2005.
