Sarah Szurek, who earned her Ph.D. at the University of Alabama, and who is assistant research scientist in the Department of Health Outcomes & Biomedical Informatics, was recently appointed program director of the Office of Community Outreach and Engagement for the UF Health Cancer Center.
Dr. Szurek is a medical anthropologist whose work focuses on understanding the social and cultural factors that influence health outcomes among vulnerable populations in order to develop targeted, evidence-based programs to positively affect health in community settings.
