Co-sponsored event: The Aronov Lecture “Democracy in Black – The Value Gap”

March 24, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Eddie. S Glaude, Jr.

William S. Tod Professor of Religion and African American Studies Princeton University

The crisis currently engulfing black America and the indifference of the country to the devastation it has wrought illustrate what I call the value gap. We talk about the achievement gap in education or the wealth gap between white Americans and other groups, but the value gap relfects something more basic: that no matter our stated principles or how much progress we’ve made on the racial front, the belief that white people are valued more than others continues to hold the center of moral gravity in this country. That belief is in our national DNA.
