Anthropology on The Web

Anthropology / Student Resources / Anthropology on The Web
  • American Anthropological Association This site is elaborated and maintained by the AAA and contains links to its many publications (including tables of contents of recent issues, style guides, submission procedures, etc.) as well as links to selected anthropology sites. It also contains excellent sites on ethics and careers in anthropology. Unfortunately and inexplicably, it does not yet contain a comprehensive, online bibliographic data base for its many publications.
  • American Anthropologist . Organized by Dr. Robert Borofsky.
  • Royal Anthropological Institute of Great Britain and Northern Ireland The web site of the oldest anthropological organization in the world contains a most valuable resource: Anthropology Index Online. This database contains bibliographic information from the extensive collections of the British Museum’s Department of Ethnography (Museum of Mankind Library). There are also links to Journal of the Royal Anthropological Institute and Anthropology Today, as well as an interesting Calender of Events for the RAI.
  • The Centre for Social Anthropology and Computing of the University of Kent at Canterbury is a content-rich source for information in sociocultural anthropology.
  • UCSB’s Web Site Arguably the best single departmental site for anthropology, UCSB provides a very useful, detailed jump station to all manner of anthropology sites.
  • Academic Info: Anthropology Many good links.
  • Guide to Sources in Anthropology (Education and Social Science Library University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) Another well-conceived site for anthropology.
  • Ur-List: Web Resources in Anthropology Peter Biella’s first rate guide to anthropology web sites. Very well organized.
  • Internet Public Library: Anthropology Ready Reference
  • The Linguist: Dictionaries, etc. contains a large number of links to a wide array of dictionaries.
  • Feminisim in Anthropology
  • Borut Teleban’s Bibliography of fieldwork, research methods and ethnography in sociocultural anthropology.
  • AnthroGlobe Bibliographies
  • ARD: Anthropology Review Database A neat site that provides
reviews of books on anthropological topics (SUNY Buffalo).
  • Anthropology Biographies Brief bio-sketches of notable anthropologists.
  • Anthropology in the News From Texas A&M, Anthropology hot off/in the press.
  • Society for the Anthropology of Europe Web Page Maintained by Tony Galt, this is an excellent cybersite for information on the anthropology of Europe.
  • Society for Medical Anthropology An interesting site for those interested in the anthropology of health
  • Center for World Indigenous Studies
  • Alabama Archaeological Society
  • Archaeology on the Net Contains many interesting links and a book database that should prove quite useful.
  • Society for American Archaeology Home Page  A good site to browse for anyone interested in archaeology.
  • Educational Guide for Archaeologists
  • Southeastern Archaeological Conference Page An essential site for those interested in the archaeology of the Southeast of the United States.
  • Kris Hirst’s Archaeology Page for the Mining Company. An interesting site that contains annotated links, including categories of jobs/employment, technology, education, museums, and the like.
