It gives me such sadness to inform you of the passing of Norman J. Singer, Professor Emeritus of Law and Anthropology at the University of Alabama, a post he held for four decades. He was a superb scholar of great energy who made major contributions on a global level. He was also an excellent teacher, a strong personality who helped build the Anthropology department to what it is today, and quite simply a very good friend to us all. He will be sorely missed. Anna, his wife, shared his obituary with me, which I now distribute to all of you. There will be a graveside service for Prof. Singer at Evergreen Cemetery on Wednesday, November 2 at 2 pm.
