Alex Tokovinine is one of a number of authors on a new Science research article on the ancient Maya. It is an article entitled, “Ancient lowland Maya complexity as revealed by airborne laser scanning of northern Guatemala,” that publishes the results of an aerial LiDAR survey across 2144 square kilometers of northern Guatemala. The study reveals “interconnected urban settlement and landscapes with extensive infrastructural development.” The LiDAR images are stunning.
