Norman J. Singer

Norman J. Singer (SJD Harvard, 1975) is a lawyer and a social anthropologist. Singer's recent work has been in the realm of land reform and land tenure, especially in developing countries. He has helped to write culturally salient land law in the Caribbean, the South Pacific, and Africa. He has also conducted research into legal systems in Eastern Europe and East Africa. Singer is very involved in international development work, and he believes that anthropology should play a major role in informing the decisions made by policymaking bodies.
