Erin Phillips

My research interests are Missippian art and archaeology. I am currently working on a stylistic analysis of Hemphill-style engraved representational art on pottery from the Moundville Chiefdom (A.D. 1300-1450) in the Black Warrior River Valley.
I recieved my BA in Classical Studies and Art History from Newcomb College of Tulane University in May 2003. I completed my MA in Anthropology at The University of Alabama in 2006. I am currently working on my PhD. For my dissertation I am looking at the social contexts of the production and use of Hemphill-style engraved pottery.
I am currently teaching two sections of Intro to Cultural Anthropology. One section is the online Continuing Education section (ANT102-901) here at UA. The other section is a classroom section at UAB (ANTH101-1F). In past semesters I have been a TA for Intro to Anthropology (ANT 100), Intro to Cultural Anthropology (ANT 102), Language and Culture (ANT 210), and Intro to Physical Anthropology (ANT 270).
