Lambda Alpha National Anthropological Honorary Society

Welcome to the Lambda Alpha Beta Chapter of Alabama web site

The Lambda Alpha Beta Chapter of Alabama is a national honorary society dedicated to promoteing excellence in Anthropology. Anthropology majors and graduate students are invited to apply once per semester for the local chapter, and juniors, seniors, and graduate students may apply for the national chapter.

Students are eligible to apply for research and travel grants, both from the local chapter and from the national organization. The yearly round of activities include colloquia and receptions, trips, and Service Projects. To see examples of past activities, try some of the links to the right.

Club News and Upcoming Events:

Doctoral student Brooke Persons received a Lambda Alpha Graduate Overseas Research Grant. Her proposal, "A Reappraisal of Regional Chronology in Banes, Eastern Cuba," was one of just four selected for the honor nationally. Brooke will use the funds to support another field season in Cuba. Dr. Galbraith is the faculty sponsor for the National Collegiate Honors Society for Anthropology, Lambda Alpha. The University of Alabama Chapter, Beta of Alabama, is student led and collaborates with the Anthropology Club on many activities. Posted 07/21/10.
